Joyce Elizabeth More was one of five children born to George Harold More (1890 -1957) and Alice Margaret Lowery (1895 -1966). She was born in Pilot Grove Township, Faribault County, Minnesota on July 19, 1921. She attended country schools through 8th grade, and graduated from Elmore High School in 1939. After graduation, she owned and operated a dress shop (J's Dress Shop) with her sister, Jean.

Joyce married Richard Frank Ripley (6/9/1916 - 4/10/2005) on February 8, 1942. They had four children (Steve, Roger, Darla, and Verlyn). Joyce and Richard farmed together most of their life - first near Bass Lake at the A K Thompson place. Then in 1944, they purchased a farm just south of her parent's home west of Elmore, and farmed there until both entered Parker Oaks Home in Winnebago, Minnesota.

Husband, Richard, passed away at Parker Oaks on April 10, 2005 and was buried at Riverview Cemetery near Elmore, Minnesota. Joyce passed away at age 86 on December 26, 2007, and is buried next to Richard at Riverview Cemetery near Elmore.
