Jeanette M More was the oldest daughter and second child born to Andrew Robert More and Jeanette Allan Weir. She was born near Hamilton, Scotland in Lanarkshire County in January of 1841. She was only 4 months old on the 1841 Scotland Census living with her parents and older brother, Robert, in Hamilton, Scotland.

She made the long journey on the ship "Liberty" at age 9 with her parents and four siblings - arriving to New York City on June 13, 1850. She grew up in Waukesha and Jefferson Counties in Wisconsin, and left there in the spring of 1858 via covered wagon with her parents and five siblings.

Soon after her and her family settled in Pilot Grove Township in Faribault County, Minnesota, a young man named Wayne B Silliman came to the same area and was working as farm labor with the early settlers in the area. He was born in Ohio and later moved to Green Lake County, Wisconsin where his family were farmers. At some point, he struck out on his own and ended up in Faribault County, Minnesota.

On the 1860 Federal Census, Jeanette was living in Pilot Grove with her parents and was a school teacher. At age 20, she married Wayne B Silliman (1834 - 1910) on January 6, 1861 in Faribault County, Minnesota.

The Indian Wars broke out in the area in 1862, and Jeanette's husband joined the Minnesota 1st Calvary Regiment in Company B (Mounted Rangers) from October 2, 1862 until November 9, 1863. He was a Private and served with his brother-in-laws.

By the 1865 Minnesota State Census, Jeanette was living near Blue Earth with her husband and one child (Willie). That same year, her husband, served in the Civil War and enlisted on February 6, 1865 in Company F Heavy Artillery.

By the 1870 Federal Census, she and her husband had their own farm and were found there in Pilot Grove Township with a farm value of $4000. In the household with them were three children (Willard, Charles, and Etta). At about the same time, the 1870 non-census schedule was taken and the report revealed that they had 165 acres (only 35 acres improved) and that they raised Indian corn and oats. They had 2 horses, 3 milk cows, 2 working oxen, 4 other cattle, and 3 swine.

They remained on their farm and were found there in Pilot Grove Township on the 1880 Federal Census. In the household with them were four children (Willard 18, Charles 13, Frank 5, and Jessie 9 months). By the 1885 Minnesota State Census, they had added another child (Mamie).

According to the 1895 Minnesota State Census, Jeanette and her husband had moved to the city of Blue Earth, and her husband was then listed as a retired farmer. With them were three of their children (Frank 20, Jessie 15, and Mamie 10).

The 1900 Federal Census showed them still residing in Blue Earth. He was said to be a capitalist and age 65. With them were two daughters (Jessie 20 and Mamie 15). The Census indicated that Jeanette had given birth to six children and five were still living in 1900 (only Etta had passed away). Both of Jeanette's parents passed in 1902 and 1903.

Jeanette's husband, Wayne B Silliman passed away on March 6, 1910 in Jackson County, Oregon at age 75. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth, Minnesota. We are assuming that Jeanette and her husband had moved a few years prior to Oregon to be near their daughter, Jessie, and her family.

On the 1920 Federal Census, Jeanette, was a widow and living with her daughter and son-in-law, John Wakefield and their family in Medford, Jackson County, Oregon. She was age 78. Her son-in-law was working as an insurance agent.

Jeanette More Silliman died at age 89 on January 16, 1930 in Medford, Jackson County, Oregon. She was buried next to her husband in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth, Minnesota.
